STEVE HOWEY

Actor Steve Howey spent a large part of his childhood out to sea – literally, having grown up on a sailboat cruising up and down the Pacific coastline – which couldn’t be a better metaphor for the wave of success he’s ridden in his acting career.

Howey currently stars on Showtime’s award-winning series “Shameless” as ‘Kevin “Kev” Ball,’ the local bar owner, friend and neighbor of hopeless alcoholic and troublemaker ‘Frank Gallagher’ (played by Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor William H. Macy).

In the hilarious series that’s all about family – however dysfunctional it may be - Howey’s character has gone from having none to more than just one. “Kev is nothing without his counterpart, ‘Veronica’ (Shanola Hampton),” Howey shares. “He’s gone from a sex-crazed guy turned into a children-and-family-crazed guy over the course of the show.” In that respect, life imitates art for Howey, who’s married to “Person of Interest” star Sarah Shahi, with whom he has three young children, and also describes his “Shameless” cast and crew as “a tight-knit family unit, both on and off the set.”

The sixth season of the critically acclaimed series “Shameless” premieres January 17, 2016.

Howey will next be seen in the independent romantic comedy UNLEASHED opposite Justin Chatwin and rising comedy star Kate Micucci (Garfunkel and Oates). He recently appeared in the indie films IN YOUR EYES with Nikki Reed and Jennifer Grey, and SEE YOU IN VALHALLA opposite “Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland.

Howey’s other film credits include SOMETHING BORROWED with Kate Hudson and Jon Krasinski, BRIDE WARS also with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, and the independent feature LOSING CONTROL.

His numerous television credits include “Sons of Anarchy,” “Jennifer Falls,” “New Girl,” “Psych,” and “Reba,” which was the first series regular role of his career, playing ‘Van Montgomery’ for the show’s entire six year run.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Howey spent his early childhood growing up on sailboats with his parents, navigating and fishing the waters of the Pacific coast from California to Baja. A basketball scholarship took him to a junior college in Colorado, but he quickly retired his jersey in favor of acting classes. Howey studied with his father Bill Howey, and shortly thereafter decided to pursue acting full time.

Howey lives in Los Angeles with his family and “is excited to see where the winds will take him on a new adventure.” He enjoys riding his motorcycle, martial arts, coaching new talent and competitive shooting.
